Ambiguous Loss and the Myth of Closure During Pandemic and After: Managing Unanswered Questions that Have No Closure

Hosted by: Pauline Boss, Ph.D
Date: Thursday, October 21, 2021 | 7:00 - 8:30 AM (PST)
Registration: Free

Physicians are trained to heal, so they are especially distressed with patient loss. Was something missed? Could something have been done differently? Dr. Boss focuses on the ambiguity of loss, its unanswered questions, and how to manage the immense stress when faced with such loss. Tolerating ambiguity is possible, but especially challenging for professionals trained to cure and fix with precision. When the context of illness becomes overwhelming, as it did in this pandemic, the ambiguity is magnified--and we need more resilience to withstand the pressure.
